A Family Business Group with the Highest Standards
Our company has its roots in the summer of 1986, when Thomas and Maria Gruessener moved to Sicily from Germany. They founded an Italian language school under the name Solemar – ‘Sun and sea’.
Over time, the school grew to a point where they took an interest in accommodation options, building the first connections of the huge network that is now Solemar Sicilia. Later, many of these students and visitors fell in love with the island, and this inspired Thomas to create Casa in Sicilia, a German-language real estate agency working exclusively on the island.
In 2018 this was joined by its English-speaking counterpart, Property in Sicily. Most recently, Sicula Services was created as a concierge service for making international relocation as smooth as possible.
Along the way, the couple’s children joined their parents, and now Valerio, Fabian, Romolo and Stella all collaborate on what is truly a family dream. Their second son, Fabian, now heads our company Solemar Sicilia. Their diverse educational and professional experiences in places as far-flung as Germany, Slovakia and Australia have helped the group broaden its services and continually raise quality.
